7236 Lab Automation Engineer I
Job Description:
The Department of Antibody Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Automation Specialist to join our Research organization on a contract basis.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with automation engineers, bench scientists and informatics teams to develop, implement, optimize, and maintain cutting-edge automated systems aimed at accelerating the discovery of therapeutic molecules.
Collaborate with department members to identify opportunities for automating manual workflows.
Develop and test protocols on integrated laboratory systems and stand-alone liquid handlers.
Work closely with scientists to troubleshoot issues and provide technical expertise.
Coordinate with vendors to ensure that automated systems are performing at their best.
Create and maintain user operation guides, web page content, and other critical documentation.
Provide user training to ensure effective and efficient use of automation equipment.
Ensure that all automation systems are in optimal working condition through proactive maintenance and vendor engagement.
Qualifications:
B.S./B.A. degree in biology, chemistry, or related field.
1-3 years of relevant industrial experience, ideally in a drug discovery or sample management setting.
Experience with laboratory automation systems, including liquid handlers (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton, or similar systems).
Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve hardware, software, and protocol-related issues.
Familiarity with scripting or automation programming (e.g., Python, VBScript, or equivalent) is a plus.
Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment with engineers and scientists.
Demonstrates ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
The hiring range for this position is $45 -$50 per hour. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity, and may also vary depending on candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience amongst other factors.
