Laboratory Assistant I
JOB DUTIES
The Lab Assistant position will provide essential support to Water Quality’s regulatory compliance program. Learns and assists with cleaning of glassware and lab ware.
Learns and assists in preparing containers for sample collection and deliveries, including special and
or emergency requests.
Learns and assists in generating collection lists and labels, receiving and logging samples and
verifying and reviewing collection data in the Laboratory Information Management System.
Learns and assists in purchasing and maintaining laboratory supplies, researching and comparing
available products and supplies, prepares purchase requests, tracks, fills, and delivers orders.
May be a corporate credit card holder. Performs corporate credit card purchases, reconciliations,
creates reports and provides support to other card holders.
Learns and assists in preparing, sterilizing, and decontaminating laboratory solutions.
Learns and assists in updating quality assurance and control records.
Learns and assists with maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Performs other related Laboratory Assistant job duties as required
SKILLS
Chemistry or Microbiology experience.
Good Laboratory Practices and laboratory safety.
Experience in Laboratory Information Management System and current office technology and
equipment.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
Use algebraic math.
Problem solve, prioritize and multi-task.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Work independently and in a team environment.
Operate current office equipment including computers and supporting applications.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education development test (GED).
Two years of relevant experience, and completion of 24 semester units from an accredited college or
university.
