Cost Engineer I
Job Description
Assist with the development and maintenance of project budgets/baselines, short- and long-term forecasts, and expenditure plans for assigned project(s) and/or program(s).
This includes the aggregation, reconciliation, and update to the budget(s), forecast(s) and spending plan(s) according to jurisdiction splits, asset types, cost drivers, and funding sources.
Assist with routine and other less complex reports to assist Project Managers and partners to monitor, manage, and forecast costs (e.g. budget, actual, commitment, and contingency) for assigned projects or programs or in response to internal or external data requests for assigned projects and/or programs.
Assist with the preparation and presentation of results, alternatives, and/or recommendations to support business decisions, to manage project costs and schedules, and to mitigate potential risks to assigned projects and/or programs.
Involve and support change control and contract negotiation/claim management.
Support the implementation, analysis, and reporting of performance using the Company’s or industry metrics (e.g., earned value management.).
Collaborate with stakeholders and utilize applicable estimating, cost management, and/or scheduling knowledge, techniques, and tools to determine and communicate the results (e.g., trend, variance, and cost impact).
Education
A combination of education, training, and experience, generally equivalent to those typically possessed by a 4-year college graduate.
Typically possesses minimal experience performing related or similar functions and assignments.
Demonstrated ability or knowledge in Microsoft software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
Must have strong Excel skills.
