Description:
Seeking a CAD Operator to join our Designs Drafting Team.
The ideal candidate should have experience in creating and editing technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
The CAD Operator will be responsible for developing 2D and 3D models, creating technical drawings, and assisting engineers with design changes.
The candidate must be able to work collaboratively with other team members and have a strong attention to detail.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and modifying electronic drawings as a result of project completion, inspection strategy changes, and/or process safety studies.
Using computer design and drafting software (recent version of AutoCAD), a CAD Operator will review the drawings, merge or create new drawings, and issue these drawings for record in the drawing management system.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of experience in process piping design, extensive experience in the petroleum refining industry, and strong knowledge of relevant software.
The position requires excellent communication, teamwork, initiative, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities:
Create, maintain, and modify drawings using AutoCAD software.
Read and interpret redlined drawings produced by Design Engineering, Engineering Contract Partners, and other operations support groups.
Support the management and storage of drawings within the drawing management system.
Produce as-built drawings, construction installation details, and equipment arrangements using AutoCAD software in coordination with engineers and other designers.
Conduct refinery plant visits to verify in-field conditions of piping and equipment.
Assist customers in locating drawings and information in support of refinery project goals.
Work closely with team leader, designers, and engineers in recommending the best use of CAD and other drafting tools in order to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Perform thorough quality reviews of project turnover drawings to ensure drawings meet the minimum requirements for publishing to the drawing management system.
Qualifications/Skills:
High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience with AutoCAD, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
Ability to perform field verification of said updates within operating refinery process units.
Knowledgeable in Asset Information Data Management.
Proven ability to effectively interface with other design disciplines to meet project objectives and deadlines.
Experience with developing and updating Process Safety Information (PSI) and Non-PSI drawings.
Technical Knowledge:
Extensive experience working in the petroleum refining industry.
Proficient in recent versions of AutoCAD software
Ability to read and understand construction documents such as drawings, sketches, 3D models.
Familiar with oil & gas drawings such as Piping & Instrument Diagrams, Piping and Equipment Isometrics, Process Flow Diagrams, Electrical one-line diagrams, Instrument Loop Diagrams, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Strong knowledge of other relevant software such as SmartPlant and/or CadWorx plant 3D modeling software. (Preferred)
Able to perform refinery plant visits for field verification of equipment, instruments, etc. for drawing updates.

Compensation Range: $42 to $48.43/hr
