Description:
The Senior Project Manager (PM), Project Delivery, is responsible for managing capital and expense (non-capital) projects.
This position ensures safe delivery, compliance with all applicable requirements, including cGMP quality, risk, schedule and budget.
The PM shall work closely with the Global Engineering, and colleagues in the Facilities and Engineering (F&E), Manufacturing, Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) Safety Health Environment (SHE) and Quality Departments.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage all elements of an engineering project including design, construction and commissioning including but not limited to scope development, design, sourcing, procurement, contractor onboarding, construction management including safety, change orders, turnover package, start-up / energization, and project close out.
Communicate and coordinate with all stakeholders within and outside the organization, including but not limited to, client teams, senior management, service providers, suppliers, procurement, and legal.
Technical:
Provide project management and execution for site driven projects such as tech transfers, facility modifications, manufacturing upgrades, automation and equipment life cycle management, and new construction.
Projects are on the site, including a complex cGMP manufacturing operational environment with cross-functional teams.
Responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure of assigned projects.
Accountable for project management and execution including engineering design, construction, safety and commissioning for site projects.
Accountable to ensure all project spend is within budget targets.
Accountable to ensure the project is delivered within the schedule.
Ensure compliance with all project governance procedures.
Proactively communicate project objectives, risk and success criteria, plans, and milestone status with F&E leadership.
Plan and control internal and external project resources to best meet objectives.
Resolve conflict to ensure successful delivery of a project.
Interact with senior internal and external management on project matters.
Align project team and stakeholder expectations for a successful outcome.
Work with the Procurement team to develop and manage the appropriate contracts to meet the needs of the site.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements (including Safety, Health, Environment and Sarbanes Oxley).
Education/Experience (may vary depending on site size/scope)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent architectural or science degree.
Minimum 8 years of experience as a project manager/engineer with significant experience leading complex projects in an operational cGMP environment or equivalent experience and education.
PMP certification preferred or equivalent education, experience or license.
Experience working in the drug substance part of the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Experienced with Traditional and Agile project management/execution and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate, prioritize, and adapt to changing workload situations.
Subject Matter Expert in managing, organizing, distributing, developing, and implementing project delivery including work break-down structure, estimating, risk analysis, cGMP quality, schedule and safety.
Superior oral and written communication skills.
Ability to successfully interact with and influence executives.
Ability to manage multiple, complex project teams.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, schedule and budgets.
Proficient knowledge of and ability to use Computerized Project Planning and related software.
