3422 Mechanical Engineering SME
Support ongoing projects with mechanical SME services:
Provide technical mechanical SME support and accountability for the Design & Construction for all aspects of mechanical design review and construction support on assigned capital and expense projects at the campus.
Support architectural, engineering and construction firms selected by the Company for the design and construction of the projects as the Company’s owner representative.
Support design and planning of upgrades to critical and non-critical mechanical systems.
Ensure that project designs provide safe, efficient and reliable operations to the Company.
Support the execution of a portfolio of projects with technical input and coordination in the mechanical discipline.
With minimum oversight, Vendor shall provide design guidance on HVAC, Plumbing, Piping and Fire Protection systems.
Attend key design meetings and provide design input and technical options analysis in accordance with the Company’s global and site standards.
Coordinate input to and influence key customers (R&D, Commercial, Pharmaceutical Technical Operations) and stakeholders (Site Operations, EH&S, Maintenance & Plant Engineering) on project designs.
Establish a working relationship with the lead engineers of the three Alliance Design Partners in addition to Site Operations, Environmental Health and Safety, Global Engineering and other stakeholders.
As defined by project needs and with general guidance from the principal engineer, the mechanical SME shall work directly with all project stakeholders to develop strategies for upgrading deficient areas of the campus throughout the project portfolio.
Review and comment of engineering design documents prepared by the Company’s engineering consultants with respect to HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Sprinkler systems and utilities.
Work with the architectural/mechanical engineering consultant and the Company and the general contractor’s personnel, to review mechanical design, cost and scheduling documentation for the mechanical systems.
Work with the Company’s BAS personnel to determine the temperature controls (BAS) requirements for the projects.
Work with the acoustical consultant to ensure that the HVAC and plumbing systems do not adversely impact the acoustical and vibration goals of the projects.
Review and comment of cost estimating packages prepared by the architectural/mechanical engineering consultants and the General contractor.
Provide engineering support for K18 energy analysis and NPV (Net Present Value) calculations purposes.
Perform site visits of the existing conditions to be acquainted with the existing HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems.
Participate and attend design, risk and review meetings as needed – attend weekly project meetings on-site or via remote access.
Assist in guiding contractors and consultants on the Company’s standards
B.S or M.S. in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years experience or equivalent degree and relevant work experience/training.
