3400 Project Control Cost Engineer
Description:
Project Controls Cost Engineer is delegated the responsibility for monitoring and appraising the performance of project costs and ensuring information and data is correct to ensure corrective actions are taken.
Essential Functions:
Ensures that the Project Controls Process is carried out in accordance with the Design and Construction Engineering Manual EM Lite and the Project Controls Procedure and related Project Controls Plan.
Supports a Project Manager in the management of Project Controls activities of architects, engineers, contractors and other involved parties.
Responsible for the management of data and information within a project management system.
Responsibilities
Responsible for project cost data and supporting documentation within the Project Controls System of record, Cora.
Performs reconciliation of cost data from local accounting system to Cora System.
Assists the Project Manager on all levels of cost reporting and forecasting.
Assists the Project Manager on all levels of negotiation and validation of Guaranteed Maximum Price contracts and change orders.
Performs contract administration duties in relation to the execution and retention of project change notices (PCN).
Manage vendor PO’s from creation to closeout.
Reviews and validates contractual compliance of project invoices.
Assists in bi-annual accrual process.
Implements financial accounting training and workshops for the project management team and / or contractor.
Assist Project Manager in financial project close-out.
Review and support basic milestone schedule updates.
Creates ad-hoc cost reports by merging data from Cora and SAP.
Assists the Project Controls Manager in cost analysis exercises.
Participate and lead process improvement initiatives.
Experience:
5 to 10 years of experience in the area of project controls, financial control or quantity surveying.
Skills Knowledge of:
Project Controls and Project Management Engineering and/or Business Administration Financial accounting principles, i.e. Work in Place and Accruals.
Skills and abilities:
Proficient in using MS-Office applications.
Strong analytical and high level excel skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and work efficiently independently as well as within a team.
Knowledge of SAP and Project Portfolio Management (eg Unifier, Cora, Ecosys, eBuilder) is preferable. MS Project knowledge is a plus.
Communication and responsiveness:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
A team player with the ability to work collaboratively and interact with employees at all levels.
Education:
University degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent (e.g. cost engineer, quantity surveyor).
