0202 Material Science Engineer
Description:
This is a contract role in the Material Science group within Pharma Technical Cell and Gene Therapy Analytical group (PTCA).
PTCA is a multidisciplinary group whose mission is to control raw material variability through fundamental scientific understanding of our materials and creation/adoption of new tools.
This position will include interactions across the Company’s Network in the areas of material sciences, data analytics and manufacturing process understanding.
The core team is composed of Scientists and Engineers in a highly dynamic environment with interactions across a variety of projects (clinical & commercial) and core functions (development, manufacturing, quality, & procurement).
Requirements:
Bioprocessing experience is a must.
The ideal candidate will have:
BS in material sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, bioengineering, or a related field. Masters or PhD is preferred.
2-5+ years of previous pharmaceutical/biotech experience in roles such as development, manufacturing, MSAT, Automation and QC.
Material science experience in the pharma/biopharma industry is required, and may include prior work with chemicals, excipients, filters, resins, single use technology, primary packaging, and/or secondary packaging. Experience in material science in another sector is acceptable with previous pharmaceutical industry.
Strong engineering principles and a great motivation to work with new tools, and deliver solutions using sound technical knowledge and data analysis.
Strong problem solving and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams.
Passion for curiosity, excitement to explore and learn new fields, and the drive to be a champion in providing manufacturing and engineering solutions.
Good interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Use scientific and engineering principles to the area of raw materials to define relevant material attributes, specifications, and identification of controls through raw material attribute assessments and risk assessments.
Ability to critically review data related to raw materials and drive decision making within a cross-functional team.
Work collaboratively with the material science team and other core functions to accomplish assigned projects.
Lead and/or participate in global initiatives and cross-functional project teams related to raw materials.
Adhere to all applicable compliance and safety requirements, cGMPs, SOPs, and other manufacturing documents.
Projects will be assigned based on the level of experience, thus entry level and candidates with advanced studies will be considered.

Compensation Range: $45 – $62.25/hr
